1. Purpose(s) of the Processing

Your personal data is collected in order to provide you with the services you have requested. We may use the personal data associated with those services in order to perform an analysis of the use of the services and to derive use statistics of all items and services available in the NCMRWF data portals in order to improve service performance as well as user relations and experience.

The personal data you provide in the registration form will not be redistributed by any means, nor be used for any other purpose.

No personal data is shared with other third parties.

2. Categories of Data Processed

The only personal data collected and further processed is (i) the information you enter yourself in the registration form and (ii) your public IP credentials (security purpose) used for accessing this data portal. The compulsory fields concern your name and surname, a valid email account, affiliation and your country of residence as well as your sector of work.

3. Modalities of the Processing Operation

You will be asked to enter your personal data to an online registration form. The contents of the registration form will be automatically stored in a database.

Terms and Conditions to Use NCMRWF Data Products PDF version

National Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecast (NCMRWF), Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India is the data producer (NCMRWF Data producer). Any user desiring to use the NCMRWF Data Products (NCMRWF Data user) should agree to and abide by the terms and conditions mentioned in this document.

1. Introduction

‘NCMRWF Data Products’ include (1) IMDAA Data - high resolution (12 km) regional reanalysis over India, from 1979 to 2018, and (2) NGFS Data - high resolution (25 km) Global reanalysis, from 1999 to 2018. Data fields from both reanalyses are available at different (hourly to monthly) temporal resolution. Funding for IMDAA Reanalysis was provided by the National Monsoon Mission Programme of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India to the Met Office, UK.

2. Terms and Conditions for using the NCMRWF Data Products

The terms and conditions set out here are for use of NCMRWF Data Products. By agreeing to these terms and conditions, the NCMRWF Data user agrees to abide by all of the terms and conditions for the use of NCMRWF Data Products.

3. Data Access Permission

3.1. Data Access is free of charge, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, and perpetual.

3.2. Access to NCMRWF Data Products is given for any non-commercial, educational/academic, and Research & Development purposes. The NCMRWF Data users are free to reproduce; distribute; communicate to the public; adapt, modify and combine with other data; must follow the creative commons license - Attribution-Non-Commercial-ShareAlike - 4.0 International (see section 5.2). For any commercial use of NCMRWF Data Products or any derived/secondary data, users are required to contact director[at]ncmrwf[dot]gov[dot]in and obtain requisite permissions.

3.3 The users are strictly advised against any kind of misuse (hacking, malware, etc.,) of the user account on the data portal. NCMRWF reserves the right to terminate access to this portal, with or without prior notice to users, in cases of violation of these Terms and Conditions or any of the applicable license terms.

4. Attribution and Credits

4.1. All users of NCMRWF Data Products must provide clear and visible attribution to the NCMRWF. The user will communicate to the public the source of the NCMRWF Data Products by crediting the NCMRWF, Ministry of Earth Science, Government of India.

4.1.1. Where the NCMRWF Data user communicates or distributes NCMRWF Data Products to the public, the NCMRWF Data user shall inform the recipients of the source by using the following or any similar notice:

• 'Generated using NCMRWF Data Products [Year]'

4.1.2. Where the NCMRWF data user makes or contributes to a publication or distribution containing adapted or modifiedNCMRWF Data Products, the NCMRWF Data user shall provide the following or any similar notice:

• 'Contains modified NCMRWF Data Products [Year]'

4.1.3. Any publication/report coming out of IMDAA Reanalysis should carry the following acknowledgement for the IMDAA dataset and authors should mail a copy of the publication to (director[at]ncmrwf[dot]gov[dot]in) within one month of publication.

"Authors gratefully acknowledge NCMRWF, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, for IMDAA reanalysis. IMDAA reanalysis was produced under the collaboration between UK Met Office, NCMRWF, and IMD with financial support from the Ministry of Earth Sciences, under the National Monsoon Mission programme".

4.1.4. Any publication/report coming out of NGFS Reanalysis should carry the following acknowledgment for the NGFS dataset and authors should mail a copy of the publication to (director[at]ncmrwf[dot]gov[dot]in) within one month of publication:

"Authors gratefully acknowledge NCMRWF, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India, for NGFS reanalysis which was produced under the collaboration between NCMRWF, IITM, and IMD ".

NCMRWF Data Productsare released under Creative Commons Licence: Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share-Alike - 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). This license lets NCMRWF data users remix, adapt, and build upon NCMRWF Data Products non-commercially, as long as users credit NCMRWF and license their new creations under the identical terms. For commercial usage, users are required to contact (director[at]ncmrwf[dot]gov[dot]in).

5. Disclaimers

5.1. NCMRWF will not warrant that NCMRWF Data Productswill be free from errors or omissions or that such errors or omissions can or will be rectified, or that the NCMRWF data user will have uninterrupted, continuous, or timely access to NCMRWF Data Products.

5.2. The NCMRWF Data producer excludes all warranties, conditions, terms, undertakings, obligations whether express or implied by statute including but not limited to the implied warranties of satisfactory quality and fitness for a particular purpose or otherwise to the fullest extent permitted by law.

6. Liabilities

The NCMRWF data producer will not accept liability for any damage, loss whether direct, indirect, or consequential resulting from the use of the NCMRWF Data Products.

7. Changes to Terms and Conditions

The NCMRWF data producer may revise these Terms and Conditions at any time and will notify the NCMRWF Data User of any revisions.
